The 100th Day of School Celebration!

We enjoyed reading books about the 100th Day of School. Here we are "giving fives" to count to 100.

With numbered post-it notes scattered around the room, we began our number search game. For each number we found on the wall, we would color that number on the 100 chart. We discovered that there was a hidden-picture of a "100" when all the boxes were colored.

When the dust cleared, this is what our room looked like with all our 100 objects out on display. We enjoyed observing and discussing why some lines of objects were either shorter or longer than others.

"Fifi The Ferocious" Comes to Life!

We enjoyed reading "Fifi The Ferocious" during our story-time in the the library. Then we had the opportunity to enjoy watching the author, Lucas Miller, preform this wonderful tale. In addition, we thoroughly enjoy singing some of his songs "Metamorphosis", "Goin' to Mexico", "Turtles and Snakes" and "Fly, Fly, Fly". Check them out on the link above.

Science Experiment: Ice Sculpture!

First, we sorted our ice based on size. Smaller ice pieces were to the left and larger ice pieces were to the right.

We predicted which bucket "inside" or "outside" would melt first. Fifteen students said the "inside" bucket would melt faster. Their reasoning was that the heat and lights would cause the melting. Five students said the "outside" bucket would melt faster due to the exposure to the sun.

We are so excited to start building our ice sculpture.

This is the progression of our "inside" bucket and the melting ice sculpture throughout the day. It was completely melted by the next day.

This is the progression of our melting outside bucket. It took two days to finally melt.

Community Helper Day

We met a commander and learned about working in the Army.

We enjoyed learning about construction. Here is Owen and Bryce showing off their "handy-work" with construction tools.

We learned about the importance of keeping our teeth strong and healthy. Thanks Avery Orthodontist.

We had so much fun trying on different tools that doctors and surgeons use in the operating room.

We learned about Texas Baptist Children's Home. We enjoyed writing, sharing and celebrating what makes our families so special.

We enjoyed learning about the importance of journal writing. We learned about writing for a newspaper.
